An oasis
where women can
support and learn from one another
Are you looking for…
AH! is an emerging theatre troupe. We are a collective in every sense of the word. To thrive, we need artists of all ages, genders, and ethnicities. Our home is a Haven that has been operating in Portage Park for nine years.
A haven where safety and freedom give way to an endless range of emotion. A sanctuary where safety and freedom ignite an infinite spectrum of emotion.
Where ordinariness is perfection, and courage is admired. Where there is no right or wrong, only truthfulness, a place where the ordinary is celebrated as perfection, and courage is honored. Here, there is no right or wrong- only honesty and authenticity.
Actors are empowered to select scripts, roles, and exercises that resonate with their artistic journey. Every member has an equal voice in the creative process, and our sole requirement is wholehearted support for one another. Competition is left outside (or outside the door)-here, feedback is offered only when requested, fostering a collaborative and nurturing environment.
Looking for trained actors in search of a creative, supportive, and safe haven in which to grow and showcase their talents. As a cooperative, actors will share in the decisions and direction of the Troupe. The mission of AH! is to create a space where you feel completely free to be you. Our mission is to foster an environment where artists are celebrated for their unique voices, encouraged to explore their creativity, and supported in their journey of self-discovery through the transformative power of theater. At AH!, you are not only invited, but inspired, to be unapologetically you. To explore ~ “ In the particular is contained the universal,” and to challenge yourself as an artist while finding opportunities to share your creativity. Let's get started!
What is AH!?
What we will create!
We will meet biweekly for 4-hour sessions. Each member’s contribution to the troupe is $200 per month, which breaks down to approximately $ 50 per 4-hour session. This monthly contribution will be used to:
Secure and Maintain Our Space: Ensuring we have a welcoming, accessible venue for rehearsals and performances.
Organize and Maintain Communication: Facilitating clear, consistent communication within the troupe for scheduling, updates, and collaboration.
Promote Performances: Investing in marketing and outreach to attract audiences and raise our profile.
Research Performance Opportunities: Exploring and securing venues such as high schools, colleges, clubs, and parks for our shows.
Coordinate Sets, Costumes, and Props: Researching and sourcing materials needed for high-quality, creative productions.
Pursue Grant Funding: Applying for grants to supplement our resources and expand our artistic possibilities.
Support Actor Earnings: Working towards fair compensation for all actors through ticket sales and grant funding.
Maintain Financial Records: Keeping accurate books and managing the troupe’s budget for transparency and sustainability.
Your monthly contribution directly supports the growth, visibility, and sustainability of our inclusive artistic community, ensuring that every member has the resources and support needed to thrive.

Anne’s Haven’s Artistic Troupe
Cooperative Theatre Troupe
Welcome!
We will work together to build a troupe that grows not only into a spring of creativity and an outlet for our talents, but also as a source from which all members can draw monetary compensation. Let’s face it, actors train, study, and work harder than those in so many other occupations, but often don’t reap the financial security.
At AH!, all the needs of the actor are understood and addressed.
As an organization under the umbrella of a 501(c)(3), AH! is uniquely positioned to pursue a wide range of grants and funding opportunities that will help sustain and grow our artistic journey. These resources will enable us to realize our vision and support our collaborative creative work. All proceeds from our performances will be shared equally among troupe members, ensuring that every artist benefits from our collective success.
The troupe will collaboratively decide which disciplines to explore, including scene study, monologues, improvisation, and script analysis, to support each member’s artistic growth. Original scripts—whether developed through improvisation or contributed by troupe members—are encouraged and open to group discussion and feedback. Public performances, whether for friends, agents, or the broader community, can be staged at Anne’s Haven, our creative home, or at a variety of vibrant Chicago venues, expanding our reach and showcasing our work to diverse audiences
We can offer places for 12 artists. Resume and audition requested.
We celebrate and embrace artists of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, political beliefs, genders, and gender identities, including non-binary and gender-expansive individuals. Everyone passionate about creativity and collaboration is warmly encouraged to respond and be part of this inclusive artistic journey.
